This log was sent to me from someone on T2T... I was amazed that I got mention in the categories that I did, even though the survey was flawed, etc. Probably just a couple friends of mine, but in any case...

... was just dropping in to say hi :) Hope all is well.

Obviously I'm the coolest sheriff ever. This survey is terribly flawed.

Good work though, in all seriousness.

I didn't actually receive any warnings or threats from ainur, only Melkor gave me the kind of 'you know what the right to do is, wink wink' type of thing, but I don't think it would've gotten too bad had I posted them anyway.

Waste, I put thought into doin it that way, but I didn't want it to be seen as biased ya know? Hopefully next time we'll get some kickass participation.

Sorry to say this but I got really surprised that Warrax did not get a mention in the most bug abuser:p He managed to find 3 or 4 gold bugs over the years that were completely cool. Also, this kind of voting system would work wonderful if it was conducted like it did in 98 (last time it was done) which was a mudwide vote whioch really gave a cool reflection on who was best of everything.

Also, coolest sheriff every? Orlando... why wasnt he mentioned?:p

Cool vote and log, hope this continues but for next time, you would be better off suggesting the people to vote for :p

I don't think Dream was joking though, he was claiming that he was joking asking for a log of 'ainur getting pked' with pictures (wtf?) but having seen his original quote I won't buy that

Yes, and at least one person was given a warning here for suggesting an answer for one of those questions, and one person was nuked for even joking about one of those questions.

Not to sound bitter, I love Krimp, but he was better than me as a GM? wow :p

Krimp took Beorns from total inactivity to the post powerful guild in the game for abotu a month and a haklf, then he gave leadership to Skyman and it all went downhill:P

He did put those categories in the first post asking for people to vote, and he was not warned or banned and I would say log page doesn't have problems with most of these categories.

I applaud your courage in removing those categories that weren't really in the spirit of what the whole game or community is about, even though you had to know it was going to lower 'coolness' or 'popularity' of you/this event.

Good job, neat survey, cool results. Can't wait to see it again next year. If I'm still around then, contact me and maybe we can set you up with something in the forums to help you get more people participating, and easy statistics tracking.

Picking up samples at a uniform distribution is stratified sampling, random sampling is just picking samples randomly, as in this case, and can have any kind of bias, duh.

  • Author
    Galad [legacy]

    25 March 2006 16:42:46

Random sampling implies picking up samples at a uniform distribution from the sample set. In this survey, it is highly likely that a large portion of enthusiastic/friendly/guildmates voted and not a 'random sample'. It is like tossing a biased coin, but it is still quite interesting.

I imagine those who voted for somebody as worst PKer were killed by them.

It's a general rule in another game I play (where I took leadership in PvP, go figure) that if you win, you have to brag about it, and if you lose, you have to list 20 reasons why you couldn't possibly have won at that time (but how you can't possibly lose any other time too) and why the other person was a noob for attacking you in your weakened state. I imagine it's about the same here? The bragging and listing was all done in forum arguments of course. This looks somewhat like a forum to me.

SoU up there as most powerful? Don't make me laugh. (Not that VC would be either :P )

It's a pity you didn't do the worst ainu/player etc. You know making fun of people is more interesting, this is dull.

  • Author
    Myrddin [legacy]
    At
    24 March 2006 03:25:53

Worst PKer of all time was fairly pathetic...For a start, Jaron: Has probably killed more people than most if not all those who voted, and most of his logs are far better than half of what we see on this page. And me? Well I would've agreed with worst pker currently perhaps, but...all time? I've played here for about a year and a half, have committed 2 murders, 3 attempts, and banged a few ERs. Surely there's been someone in the past 12 years who has made more of a name for themself?

Oh yeah, I voted for Oogra. He was the only person I know of to play an olog-hai necro and was the powerful (necro) I've ever seen, raped most quests in Mordor solo :p. I also voted Swiper for general command of the profession.

  • Author

    24 March 2006 01:50:24

I don't play this game anymore, and have now successfully not logged in since the day after my nuke. I was just directed to this link by a friend, because Oogra was an honorable mention on best Necro of all time. Since I'm nuked, and Draugluin can bite me, I'm Oogra. Who cares? Fact is, I played a necromancer for something like a month, and on top of that Oogra was COMPLETELY paid for by Cozoq. I may have become quickly well known as Oogra, but that's because I was a loud, persistent asshole, and I defied ER rules and farmed the hell out of Mordor no matter what people tried to do to me, to sell it on the FR AH. I also helped to set up numerous ERs to be pked...successfully I might add, amazing considering how much I suck at pvp. I would like Oogra to be removed from your honorable mention of best Necromancers. I am a HORRIBLE necromancer, there are many far far better than me, not the least of which should have been Cozoq. That'll be all. I suck at Necros, please strike me from the list.

    -An asshole.
