I don't think it is getting edited, but on some senses people were in Rohan or even Gondor (shame he didn't get room names), it doesn't take long to get to Rohan, and just a single west from Osgiliath signpost is in the region of Gondor.. both doable in the meanwhile no matter how fast he sensed.
