Old log (see prompt) completely unplanned, didn't know this exchange was going on, was just random pstealing gold. Thought it was a little more interesting than an auction theft. Total fines: 118 gold.
I usually don't bother, only cover thefts worth doing, is to make them report wrong guy. I just felt like giving it another shot. Got dissapointed as usual when I cover :P
There are ways to get around that Hrafn, beside you can't get more then 1200 gold in fines for a fang, so why bother doing cover?
Don't drag me into this, I never rate logs anyway. Also, my last log was the first one to actually get a rating, so you're really talking about something you don't know anything about.
Also, about the low fine.
You got reported for the baldric, which obviously was in poor condition. This explains the low fine.
And cover thefts are over-rated really. The last fang got me 2.5K extra in fines for 3 cover thefts. It's not like the good old days, steal _little_ gold now grabs 20-25% of a persons money.

They are when you see really shit logs by popular players on the all time 20, and great logs by less popular players shunned.
Not like ratings are a big deal.
Hmm maybe I should namechange to Hrafn and my logs will get good ratings even if they suck.
Heh well I haven't been playing thief long enough to learn how all the theft fines work. Either way 118 gold for a fang isn't half bad, can't help but notice what Dakar said (despite him being a dick) about new players getting their logs put down by pompous asses like Pallasch rings true.

Before you are told in a harsher way.. you get reported for your last theft, not the first, you got fined for the baldric (no way to fine you for whatever is in the sheath), not the 5 gold.
Well, I was only reported once. Because I stole the 5 gold first, that was the fine I payed. Baldric theft was never reported.
At least, I think that's what happened :P
How does it work as a covertheft if you did it before stealing the item? Oh, that's right, IT DOESN'T.
Main reason I thought this was interesting is because the 5 gold I stole before seeing the exchange of fang worked as a covertheft :P 118 gold for 5 gold theft is pretty crud, but ok if you get a fang out of it ;)
Even going to a different town instead of Bree would be smarter, that signpost is busy as hell.
Good reaction speeds, I suppose, but they were obviously rookies... Anyways, why people meet at Bree to exchange things, I'll never understand. Plenty of out-of-the-way spots for that type of thing. :P
