You can't compare getting married on the mud to getting married on a game where it gives real benefits with respect to game mechanics.

I'm sad to announce that Azer has been expelled from the guild. His highly immoral actions clashed violently with our own standards of good moral and honor.

I have also heard that Azer's wife left him, after hearing he had a daughter she wasn't aware of. Her last statement: By Mahal's sake, an elf?! Seriously!

I have a few comments to make. Regarding the log:

OH DEAR LORD! ROTFL HAHA OMG LOL!

    Regarding Arawn's statements:

OH DEAR LORD! ROTFL HAHA OMG LOL!

Regarding Gaul's attempt at rationalizing marriage:

OH DEAR LORD! ROTFL HAHA OMG LOL!

I'll give the example that comes to mind. In Ragnarok Online you can get married, and after marriage you have two new skills - summon your wife/husband to you for free, and sacrifice 10% of your HP/EP to heal their's (and they can do the same for you, of course). The skills are quite beneficial to have, and well worth the cost of the wedding, if both people are active enough to make use of them.

Of course one could just argue you have to be a nut to play that game anyway. But some people like that sort of thing.

    Arawn [legacy]

    12 May 2006 09:00:53

Do you not understand the meaning of what I said regarding your qualification?

I'm comfortable judging thousands of people as nutjob idiots with one broad stroke. If you'd like to provide some reasons why or past expiriences of people which show that getting married for role play on an online game is not a crazy thing to do, I'll gladly listen to it.

  • Author
    Gaul [legacy]

Yeah, I used the word 'pretty', I must be insane! But then, I'm not the one judging thousands of people with a nice broad statement. Where did you get such wisdom that allowed you to come to the conclusion that only the depressed and insane get married in a game?

If you reviewed a game, would everybody who disagrees with it be out of their mind?

  • Author
    Arawn [legacy]
    At
    12 May 2006 06:58:31

Notice you qualified that with 'pretty'.

  • Author
    Gaul [legacy]
    At
    12 May 2006 06:47:33

I can think of a few places you could post that message where you'd find nearly the whole community disagreeing. I've never been big on any form of online relationship, but I know some pretty normal people who go for that sort of thing.

Yes, to do it for RP you don't have to be depressed, you have to be completely out of your fucking mind.

  • Author
    Gaul [legacy]

Not if it's RP. It happens a lot in MMORPGs.

    To : Valoc@Erebor

    Cc : Azer

    From : Dregmar@Bree

    Date : Thu May 11 11:50:40 2006

    Subject: Azer

    ===================================

I do not know if you are aware of the 'joke' Azer played concerning my

marriage with Dahlia. However, I feel this is completely wrong and a

highly immoral thing to do. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you

disciplined Azer, preferrably expel him from BKD. If not, there is a

strong chance that he will mysteriously die several times. Take that

    however you wish.
