    The main street of Edoras leads south from the gate.  It is a broad
path, which leads steadily up the great hill.  Spaced along the way
are several short flights of stairs.  Beside the road a swift 
stream of water flows in a stone channel.  There are many houses on
either side of the path as it winds its way up the hill.  To the east
is a small stone guard house, to the west a building with a plaque on
its door.
The Great West Road continues northwest and northeast.
You see the river Snowbourne west.
The sun is setting in the west.
The sky is brilliantly clear.
    There is water to the north and west.
    The only obvious exits are south, north, west and east.
