And I'll agree with you, the lawsys thing is stupid, you should be able to serve if you don't owe any fines.
I was a servant before anybody had ever heard of you, so I do know what I'm talking about :p All it takes is 1 day of aging before you can serve again/unserve, so it's not like it is any actual pain in the ass to do it. It should be more like, 10 days of aging before you can unserve, if ANY amount of age.
There are various requirements that prevent flip flopping, one of them being character aging between service and non-service. As to 'dying' for serving off, or vice versa, the playerbase does a decent job of welcoming people from either side. You have to be pretty active like myself for the serving on and off age requirements to not be a pain -> However, there is still a redundant 7RL day Lawsys check despite the advent of global lawsys... Just a little more perspective for the potatos that sit and comment, without living what they're dealing with.

I just think serve should be a bigger deal. Once you serve, that's it. You are locked in and cannot come back. I dunno if that is too harsh, but it makes sense to me. You pledge your service to Sauron. He wouldn't let you just go back to the other side without killing you first.
I would guess Kelos didn't actually use the break, but emoted it and Exhalev simply left the room leaving Kelos free to camo at his leisure
I don't see a issue with spells. Get all spells then serve. You can pretty much all spells at very low lvl, around 14, shouldnt serve before that anyways. And lvl 20 aint that fucking importaint really, Woohoo i get a gay ass clowny fruit title that i can color in all the rainbows gay ass colors, look at me with my fruity lvl 20 gay as title. *shrug* You have to unserve if you're a wizard sFR that needs spells that you can't get while serving. And you need to unserve for level 20. I don't see why unserving is a big problem for FRs, untill the ainur fix that lvl 20 issue and spells, i think people should do what they can!

And my ER's are colored, but you get so used to just thinking 'Exhalev = ER' that sometimes you just don't realize the color isn't red :)
