I have been quite clear on this: if you don't play against me, I won't play against you.
loooool
Haha, fantasy sucks. Tolkien, what a schmuck.
Fantasy sucks you queers. 'But who am i to speak to one such as you?'
I swear to fing god 'one such as you' is used in every fantasy from The Beast Master to the Tower of Hartul-Bah.
I made that last one up but I'll bet there is such a book, or at least a place in a fantasy book.
But maybe I'm mistaken..I should go seek the advice of the Learned Ar-Golls, keepers of the Ancient Libraries of Buhgar - Yew.
Burn it all.
Dorf, why does none of that surprise me?
Heh, I read all of the Shannara books when I was in middle school, and am currently foaming at the mouth for the next and final Terry Goodkind book. ;)
Oh, and some of Terry Goodkind's stuff. I like his novels mainly because they are part of a series, but can also stand alone - unlike Jordan's works.
Hmm, I dug the Shannara series back in the day, even if the first was a total rip of LOTR. Some of them are interesting.
Yeah. I looked it up last night on Amazon, read the synopsis, and then went out and bought it today. Incredible read so far. Any more suggestions (preferably paperback)?
Scott Lynch released a book called 'The Lies of Locke Lamora' last year, which was one of the most impressive fantasy debuts I've ever read. Definitely in the same company as GRRM.
I've actually heard disturbing news that he has some kind of complications with cancer in his bone marrow? Not sure if it's true or not...
I've never heard of Scott Lynch, but I'll check him out, since you put him in the company of George Martin. Song of Fire and Ice is simply amazing.
I liked EotW. then the dumbass author went on to write 30 other books. its like a damn set of encyclopedias.
Doesnt he know I have a short attention span? its the same reason I dont like that stupid show 24, or lost. I want my TV shows to start, unravel, and conclude in 60 minutes or less.
George R. R. Martin is amazing. Check it out. Damn it, you made me post another comment, *screams and suicides*
Never heard of those guys, actually.
Good damn story, but I'm not getting any younger here waiting for the darn thing to tie up - and neither is he.
Do you really think so? I'll give credit where credit is due; RJ has a great imagination, and an interesting story to tell, but he's also in desperate need of a good editor. His story has been stretched far beyond it's logical bounds. I'd give him an A for plotline, and a C for execution. I like his books enough to buy the next one, but in terms of epic fantasy he gets shat all over by the likes of George R.R Martin and Scott Lynch. :P
Valoc!
Masema. :)
You guys, gotta be kiddin me! Rand Althor for life! :P *nerd*
Good books all the way up till the 7th one, Esker. Overall, my favorite character is Miasma (don't think that's the correct spelling; he becomes the Prophet later on). A religious zealot with power. Gotta love it.
It looks as if Mordeth has a trigger to cast sandstorm whenever someone broke his concentration
It's from Wheel Of Time. Even though those books were sort of subpar on the whole, he was one of the cooler more intriguing characters.
I love Jared.
Is Mordeth a character from a book or something?
I'm fucking glad he died. I've been wanting to use 'Mordeth' as a character name for years now, but every time somebody else beats me to it. First there was a level five ranger who hibernated like clockwork every three months, and then there was some ER tosser. I ended up having to use something which was similar, but not quite as good. Serves you right, Mordeth.
Which I consider normal, Nildnab.
This is like beating up a gay kid for smiling at you.
