Exhalev - For the purposes of the present setting, it was _thought_ that Sauron had destroyed Aiglos when he killed Gil-Galad, when, in fact, it appears Cirdan retrieved it... or something like that. It's not like the black sword, whose stories revolve around the fact that its resting place in Turin's burial mound was never disturbed; it was said destroyed, but it didn't NEED to be destroyed. Kind of like the dwarven rings were thought lost, but they didn't NEED to be lost.

Aiglos was destroyed by Sauron when he killed Gil-galad. Then again, I'm pretty sure the Balrog's whip of fire would have been quenched when he fell in the lake, but oh well.

Aiglos was supposedly hidden there by Cirdan, who would have had access to it after Gil-Galad died. -No- idea how the Dragon-Helm ended up with Carforgoth. Turin's tomb was never looted, so it must have been elsewhere. I guess the assumption is the same as with Glamdring, etc... someone sacked an armoury and it's been passed around among evils ever since.

Yeah sure is Jabba, because Evils being able to get the most pure and angelic like weapon in arda is just as it should be? Tell me, a serving er or a er, can he become angelic and use this weapon at it's fully potential?

Yeah, pretty odd that Aiglos ended up in the mountains of Rivendell too...

Sort of shifty how the Dragon-Helm ended up in the far southeast of Near Harad anyhow :P

Who the hell cares about a slayer tag? I'm vegetarian, I don't wanna slay beautiful creatures for a tag. I just want +25 tactics:P

    The problem being balancing.

Shelob is never killed because she doesn't drop loot good enough to kill her for, avoiding her to get into mordor is easy (even without the password) and she requires careful planning and coordination. There are like 2-3 things you can get (easier) if you kill shelob (you can get them without, it just requires some planning though I doubt anyone who doesn't know their way around the lair would be able to accomplish it), one requires you to die anyway and is class specific, the others are limited in number, or not 'that' good so as to go to the effort of killing the spider to get them.

The dragon is killed because he does drop loot good enough to kill him for. He still requires careful planning, and because of the way he's coded no coordination (though it helps to have a friend along with you).

If he didn't have the loot he'd rarely be killed. This is the problem with Shelob. If her death gave something worth getting she would be killed more regularly. By all means make something hard, make it stupidly hard so it requires an obscene amount of EQ/Healing/People but make it worth the effort if you do that.

I personally think the dragon should just be built into a more difficult environment. It's kind of easy to get that dragon slayer tag and dragon-helm when all you have to do is bring some healing and spam headbutts.

How about adding some sort of stomach digesting acid and fumes that prevents players from using aliases?

And it is not enough that we should be able to kill a dragon alone with some healing, it should be just above bywater bees in the food chain.. FOR THE SAKE OF REALISM AND FUN

Or maybe the dragon could eat us and we could go through an adventurer's quest in its belly, which includes no combat but lots of slimey descriptions.. That would be good playing experience, at least until people start aliasing through it.. What a thrill!

Yeah, I mean, where do people get the idea that dragons are tough creatures from? They are not depicted as tough in any books at all!. Else they wouldn't have gone almost extinct, would they?! What are you going to say next, that elves have fair skin? Wtf, lunatics.

Speaking of which, why can't we climb over that so-called Wall of Mordor? That would surely be a hell lot of fun.

    Shelob is an intimidating creature.

    The dragon is not.

    Figures.

Why does it have to be tough? The greatest experience I've had questing was the seasoned adventurer quest. When I have to kill a tough NPC to get an item, it's not a great experience. It's like 'Die motherfucker and those who coded you such a bitch should die too, I just want your helmet'.

I'm sorta hoping they'll change him. After people figured out how it was suppoused to be done, those eye stones went from rarity to fire-opal status. As far as the helm's concerned, sucks that you can't reset it, awesome piece of equipment.
