Yes, it is too much to ask for a standard policy that is followed.
Like helpfiles have ever been a valid resource for any kind of debate. Valinor decisions are solely based on the current admin. Changing the rules/helpfiles each and everytime this changed would be a waste. Use law report if you really feel like you deserve reimbursements.
People have been reimbursed for bugs before. It just depends on who you ask, and how guilty he feels.
Still, I think Valinor should indicate in their helpfile on reimbursements that reimbursements will not be granted under any circumstance barring directed, malicious action by renegade Ainur. Because as is, by reimbursing those who were killed by the Ainu there, they're not keeping to the helpfile; if the helpfiles are not nominally correct, they're pretty useless.

Bugs in code/accidents with reboots are entirely different from an ainu intentionally abusing power to kill somebody.

Forcing a reboot can be caused by many instances. They are doing it for the good of the mud.
They cant ask every single character if they are falling from ZZ or swimming and if it is ok to reboot. So I dont see how its their fault when they are actually trying to fix a problem.

Actually, Valinor do reimburse when extraordinary things happen. It was their mistake to let such an idiot to become an ainur and it honours them deeply to admit the mistake and to fix them. Hats off them.
Which is interesting, because Valinor said reimbursements would not be granted under any circumstances - how is killing someone with their ainu different than using a bug to instakill someone? Before Flee was coded Myrddin locked an ER 5-man in his guildhall (almost got nuked for it) but could have killed them off one by one, doing 20 damage, running to heal, coming back, etc. Their ghosts couldn't even leave. Yet if he had killed one they would not have been reinstated.
I'm not commenting on the morality or lack thereof of Fyng's Ainu's actions, just an inconsistency in Valinor's reimbursement policy.
