that lead into the tower proper.  The remnants of the recent
battle are still evident here, although all of the bodies have
been piled to the northwest.  The doors to the tower are thrown
wide open, and the re-fortification of the tower makes this quite 
a busy area.  
By the red glow of the sky you can tell that Mount Doom is erupting.
    The only obvious exits are northeast, gate, tower and southwest.
