Yeah, I played a MUD that, if it hit more than 10 people on at a time (avg user base was like 6-8 :p) and the Imm was bored and not coding, they'd just throw a random event, separate battlefield, dying doesn't hurt, just fun times, and those who are on and stuck with it got a prize depending on how long it lasted. Made it more interesting and kept people who maxed coming back to the MUD actively, even if just to check for event.

Wish i was there. I would have layeth the smackdown on that black fiend. :P

Tireless got some good points. And if you take them into account and try to make more random 'rp events' with Tireless' points in mind, it would sure be a good and healthy boost in the day-to-day fun of the game. :)

Zoso says in Westron: I shall subtract numbers from your hit point tally until it reaches zero and then I will have won the game.

I'm pretty sure it's not suppose some self-proclaimed roleplay thing, but figuring how just how long it takes 20 people with pimp weapons to kill a beast with that much HP. He didn't hurt for crap because I'm pretty sure Aule didn't want anyone to die for simple testing purposes. However, those that did turn it into something a bit more than testing, e.g., Zillak, got rewarded for it.

The balrog speaking Westron was another nice little touch. You know, so people could roleplay with it by talking to it, or something. 'In the darkness under the earth for a few ages, come out to warm up in the sun, learn the language of the hobbits for shits and giggles, get captured by Aule and slain by morts while I curse Aule and Manwe in the language I just learned.' Yeah right. Clownlike.

And I really do appreciate the creativity on Valinor's part. You know, ooh, roleplay event, what kind of monster should we summon? *think, think, think* I know, we'll clone another Balrog and chain it exactly the same way we did the last one, only about 40 rooms away.

Pointed the same out to Aule. This was merely some time-consuming target practice on a still standing target, I'd be better off chasing those pesky moria orcs then fighting this fight. I'm confident that some changes will be made for the future :)

I like how the Balrog did so little damage that virtually nobody had to use any healing or run to heal. That's the fearsome lieutenant of Morgoth's army there, for sure. Really dealing out some damage with those fiery implements of doom.

Unless, of course, since he was bound by Aule, he couldn't swing. But then, how was he hitting people? Glaring at them?

Maybe Aule took his whip and sword away, so he was just barehanding people. erm, he was doing like 8 and 10hp per hit, which is pretty weak for even a dwarf or elf; he's a lot bigger than that.

The only possible explanation I have for his clownlike damage is that Aule tied his hands back so he couldn't wind up, so all the Balrog could do is flick morts attacking him.

Pure 6, because Zoso not only left his guildhall, but spent an extensive period of time fighting something outside his guildhall.
