I saw someone shaping me, and I did a find on all of my online enemes, thereby discovering he was in the room with me. So I played with him a bit. When he asked me how I knew he was after him, I started joking that I had a spy in VC, and got an anonymous 'tip-off' from a friend. It may have happened at around the same time as the Scatha stuff happened, but it was unrelated. Just my sense of theatrics.

Everyone knows how Scatha got deainured for giving Etrius information off the Valacircan guildcomm so he could avoid a PK attempt. Same kind of shit. Same asshole.
I'm gonna jump in to defend Scatha here. He gets a lot of shit because of the changes that were made to guilds while he was Guild OL. But many (most?) of the decisions that were made during that time were not made by him. Scatha coded the Dev 22 changes exceptionally well, in addition to doing QC and coding new areas at the same time. Scatha has contributed a ton of time and effort into the MUD.
He's an opinionated guy and he's not bashful about giving you his opinions. I've worked with Scatha a lot and trust me... he's honest with you. Now, my MUD friends and Scatha's MUD friends have not always seen eye to eye, but I've never thought Scatha used his position as an immortal to help his mortal or his mortal friends.

I've witnessed both selective Ainur punishment, and Scatha's asininity, firsthand. Also: when I was GM of RoI I made a locked board post giving everybody in the Guild permission to attack and kill all servants on sight. Also, I had contacts in both Udungul and Durmanhoth who were providing me with regular updates on board posts and changes to the memberlist. I can't recall the specific incident you're referring to, Nildnab, so I can't comment on the details.. but there's every chance I'd already stuck the relevant information on our board.

Yep, I dont MP I just have a habbit of friends staying friends and enemies not liking who you are period. Even ainu are basis and use their powers to figure out who you are.. Scatha cheating for RoI example.
People like Azhrarn, Charbile, and Altar have actually revealed my alts in the same comm, on the main comm/FR/ER comm... it has happened to me quite a few times.
This was a form of MP, as you are not supposed to threaten people's alts etc, but it wasn't the most grave form of it - I know a warning or 2 were issued for some of the offenses, but really, what can be done?
People on this game are unable to deal with conflicts with gameplay, it is evidenced repeatedly through underhanded abuse of law reports, flaming, hate mail, flaming bags of dogshit on doorsteps, etc... I'm sorry to say you'll just have to man up with it dude, its something you shoulder the second you make your second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, etc character. Trust me :)
And just before I get a big hooplah shitstorm about how I don't separate my characters, you'll notice I always have, if you know me, with rare exception - using more than 1 char to 'fight a conflict' is extremely subjective. If a character who is my alt is drawn into a conflict on its own accord, the fact that my other alt is involved in that same conflict shouldn't colour it. If it was my neighbour's char it would be the same type of deal... etc etc.
I will welcome a giant spew commentary on who I am as a person, my actions and their values, and my general playing style: from people who don't know me whatsoever, and have been damaged by my actions on a -game-. Commence my bitter, bored, moronic foes!

If I see the logs, I will appriopiately give the killers gold for you dying. I will in fact go out on a limb here, and say Valinor has been embittered by a core group of shitholes (maybe 8 of them total??) that have made other players embittered caused the better and massively more fun players to leave and overall ruined the best parts of the towers. These shitheads of course have friend shitheads who make it even worse and provide an endless string of shitheads who cheat, MP like its a right and etc. I am so glad I haven't killed an npc in most likely 6months or so since Drogian made a really cool 'event' for us. I have killed countless diablo creatures! :) And honestly, I have tried to keep most alt info (except that of the 8 mentioned above) to myself. Not to mention I was the biggest abuser of alts in the game? And as I said before, enforcement isn't going to do shit if you have the same shit players in it. It gets looser when the admin are trying to keep the game live and keep enough players in it etc. It gets tighter ([remember rauko??!:)] when there are plenty of players and they want the experience to be really good and almost flawless in all respects.

I remember when they nuked Erest and Dansk for multiplaying because they're roommates or whatever and have the same IP.. probably couldn't really actually prove they were multiplaying. Yet now they don't nuke because of lack of evidence even when there's so much it.. Valinor has different standards for every case, they've always been inconsistent. It's bloody lame but what can we do about it? And yeah it does have a big affect on your interest in the MUD.

Uh, basically everyone carries their opinion of a typist over to each of his alts. Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part that's how its always been. They key is to not give away your alt info.. Plus a person could hate a char and its alts for different reasons. I'd be more concerned about people using more than one char for the same purpose, botting, bug abuse, etc. If there was a nuke in this case, you'd probably have to nuke at least half the playerbase as well.
But yeah, Valinor's enforcement of the rules in general is complete shit right now.
