In Mordor and in Lothlorien.
Also, I like to... roleplay... the academic risking his job banging the undergrads.

I don't like this new obsession of taking Mordor attacks out of Mordor, back in teh day every guild would of been at war with SoU, Udungul and Corsairs if they thought like you guys do now.
What happened too:
What happens in Mordor, stays in Mordor?'
Funny. I recall going to war against SoU, Udungul, and Corsairs multiple times to make them abandon that silly idea that 'what happens in Mordor stays in Mordor.
If you want to kill me, have at it. But don't think because you happened to do so in Mordor means everything's roses.
Maybe you need to know shit about history before you start lecturing us on it, Haarni.
Seems Shardik is having trouble with the concept of what's IC and what's OOC. Lawsys and deaths are OOC, by necessity (since a universal legal system and resurrection just didn't exist in the setting). Saying 'I'm going to report that attack because I'm evil' or 'I'm going to turn merciful off now because I'm evil' is the same as saying 'I'm going to file spurious law reports because I'm evil' or 'I'm going to go to that typist's house and throw rocks at his car because I'm evil'. If you're a dick, fine, you're a dick. Don't hide behind your character.
I roleplay a naughty schoolgirl in need of a lesson.
RP is an acronym that stands for Role Play. That is all it means. Pretending to be someone else. For some people that means pretending to be a knight in shinning armour that does good deeds and helps people in need while maintaining an obnoxious sense of self righteousness. For others it means pretending to be a sneaky little thief that steals everything they can. For some it means pretending to be an evil bastard that enjoys causing other people suffering.
Me, I like to roleplay a teacher disciplining a naughty schoolgirl who didn't do her homework.
Thats your definition.
I think that if an evil defends mordor and kills a moral, then obviously if that morals friends see the guy that killed their mate in lothlorien, they are going to take up arms. I have never been a fan of what happens in mordor, stays in mordor...but I also understand that others have different views.
Shardik, the thing is that in this MUD community, if you kill people outside of Mordor just because you're RP enemies, that's spreekilling and harassment. RP, or even PK with merciful, is a way to have fun without lowering someone's stats and taking all of their equipment.
Not everyone chooses to RP 'a noble dunadan of the North'. I could RP evil and want to slaughter your character without having any grudges towards your typist or the goal of inconveniencing you. RP is not and should not be required to be the two gentlemen wearing white gloves and fencing to uphold their honor. Peek outside your fucking box every now and then.
Because if you have a grudge against a typist and want to inconvenience them, roleplaying is not the way you go about it.
Since when did RP = 'not wishing them anything bad'?
What Trempk said.
If you attack someone for any reason, anywhere, it is reasonable to expect reprisal.
Of course if terms are agreed upon between parties ahead of time, then that's another story, but to be honest I don't really trust a lot of the SoU membership to abide by any conditions set by their leadership.
Yeah, thats the dumbest thing ever, people thinking they can pk people in mordor and not expect payback for it. You have to be a complete moron to think that is reasonable.
I think it happened at least once
It'd be nice to see moral/neutral guilds all meet and come with a policy on this.
You would know a lot about hypocrisy, wouldn't you?
Now, lowering someone's stats/experience and putting them into a ghost state (known as killing people) has the same effect inside and outside of Mordor. And because I can PK outside too, I will corpse you outside as well. RP with merciful is understood but RP without merciful is called vendetta in Dunland:)
Lowering people's stats just because there is no punishment for you is hypocrisy and weakness. Hypocrisy because you pretend you don't wish them anything bad and weakness because you can't afford to kill them outside.
Be real! Be free! Kill them bastards outside of Mordor too!
Good read! Foraker your the man :p
Kelevra was hitlisted. Kill in Loth took him off that (not mordor cause he started that) I actually had thought he had attacked Viola again outside but it turns out Viola was triggered to attack him and so we started that.
Yes Vermond, I could also come up with lots of stuff as well. But yeah, this discussion will lead to nowhere.
None the less you are 'roleplaying' That should consist with merciful on. If you kill someone in Mordor you should suffer the consequences out of it. IMO.
I could come up with hundreds of rebuttals against Rhoads and Wormbaneii, but I won't bother. It is not worth arguing over - as far as I know we have been arguing about Mordor for at least 5 years and pretty much all of the guild wars I have participated in were due to that.
We got Amruin and GV to accept 'Mordor is Mordor' countless times, and I can think of at least one instance when we were forced to accept otherwise - None of the treaties lasted, and none will, because you can only enforce your views on people as long as you have power, and power is quite volatile in Arda.
To make it short, we will keep fighting over it forever, let's stop arguing over it at least.
but... You can still sue the company
The problem I find with Rhoads statement is that you choose to put yourself in that kind of a situation. Also, I do believe that saying 'Mordor is Mordor' while at the same time asking for kindness in Lothlorien is complete bullshit. Unfortunately for MOral guilds, there is no moral place that evil players have to go for uber good gear that is lawless. Therefore, you are left with one of two options:
a) Go to Mordor and risk being PK'd
b) Stay out of Mordor and don't risk being PK'd
How does this affect Mordor policy? Well, since you CHOOSE to go into Mordor and you accept the risk of PK once you get there, if you happen to die for WHATEVER reason while there, it's not logically correct for you to turn around and want to seek retribution.
That's like buying a car, 'as is' knowing full well that it might be a piece of shit, then when it breaks down, trying to sue the car dealership for selling you a piece of shit.
Haarni, we were often at war with these guilds:)
Gotta agree with Rhoads, I always thought that was total horseshit. SoU wanted us to play nice in Caras, but then hunted to kill in RP because 'Mordor is Mordor', what a friggin crock that was.
And that was bullshit. If someone killed me in Mordor I for sure would come after them no matter where.
I don't like this new obsession of taking Mordor attacks out of Mordor, back in teh day every guild would of been at war with SoU, Udungul and Corsairs if they thought like you guys do now.

He hunts in Mordor with merciful off... VC has every right to kill him outside Mordor for that kind of 'RP'.
I didn't read the log, but why was he killed in Lothlorien? Its his guilds theme to protect Mordor.
xD
nice
That was a good kill.. better in color though. Smart of Kel to use Khamul though.
I bet he thought VC in mordor = no risk and an easy kill
lol
Interesting choice, leaving the comm spam in. I must say, the best possible caption for Galuf's link (http://p7.hostingprod.com/@tednasmith.com/lotr2/TN-Boromirs_Last_Stand.jpg) would be 'Boromir's Last Beer Bong'. Bet he wishes he was funneling miruvor...
And, eh, good log, I guess.
