Anyway, I thought it was kind of ironic that I found him ND, took 2 hits to kill him, he got one hit, a crit hit, and then i didn't even get the gold.

See the proper solution would have been to bitch smack the citizen and appropiate him where he belongs, out on the streets, no killing him.
