speaking as a registered nub, I read the post about the slave and the crowbar and will still be owned if this 'trick' is ever used on me. I think that the information hoarding is necessary at times, but come on, the is so much to this game that there's already a bunch of tricks that everyone has forgotten about. Leave the logs unaltered (except for redundant spam of course) let the QI ring from the mountaintops!
When someone edits quest info out of a log or tries to keep a less known neat trick their enemy performed secret, you know, the very first thing I think to do is spout off exactly what happened just so anyone who might not already know about it definitely will. Well if you checked the log he first went from ND to AVG and then from AVG to perf.
