There isn't that big of a difference, and reduced damage in cost if they die. That and its mainly probably an exp issue because exp is easily the hardest thing to come by in this case.
... That doesn't explain how they all stay at lvl 15 instead of say, you know, lvl 19?
They have bots/stupid players that are their bitches to get them gold. :)
