In my grade school, I was in a class of 60 with 3 down syndrome kids. In that class was also a future internationally celebrated mathematician and someone who would go on to be published at the age of 16. Now, if you accept that 2-3 students are enough to establish a pattern in a class (much less a school!), if those 3 down syndrome kids engaged in an activity, we ought to be able to say that my class produced only retards based on them.

Do you understand? That school pumps out hundreds of students per year, and to make a claim regarding its educational efficacy you need MUCH more than 3 data points.

In every education system (even the best!) there will be some dipshits. Hoshkebosh came from Herkimer, so clearly it can produce some people which are nearly universally respected and liked. No matter what you think of any or all of the typists from Herkimer, we don't have a sample size nearly large enough to condemn the school.

To Myrddin, what constitutes 'an obnoxious twat' is pretty subjective. If you asked even the small number of people who visit this site whether Cruice is or has been behaving like an obnoxious twat in the last [1 day, 5 days, 2 weeks, month, year] you will get conflicting answers in all cases. I think the majority opinion will not even be constant.

[malediction]: Fuck all of you, I hate every one of you except Shabba, who is a kitten. You are all shitheads and have craniums entirely filled with excrement.

Ah, I see where you're coming from now Cruice. Though to be honest, I don't think 'useless hate' and 'unfounded hate' go hand in hand. I mean a pessimist may say that there will always be hatred towards a particular group or individual, but I'd like to think that in an ideal world, where nobody was being an obnoxious twat, there would be no misplaced hatred.

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my fellow mudders.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted from the mud back in '03.

I have a dream that one day this mud will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We will RP, we will not MP and most certainly won't cheat.'

I have a dream that one day on the cliff of Mt. Doom, the Sons of Ulfang and the members of GB will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the city of Herkimer, a city sweltering with the stench of cheats, sweltering with the stench of MPers, will have transformed players that RP and only want the best for the t2t community.

I have a dream that my future little children will one day mud in an environment where they will not hear 'stfu scrub, safooma, omg u r from herk lolol' but instead 'How fair thee, my jolly ol' friend?'.

    I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, in t2t, with its strict comm rules, with its Powers having their fingers against the button with the words of 'warning' and 'commbanned4life' -- one day right there in t2t mudders will not be punished for saying 'fuck, rape, cunt etc' on the comm, but will be punished for more serious issues.

    I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day everyone can mud in an environment full of fun and joy and a place where cheaters are not welcome and are properly dealt with.

I don't think I have any specific objection to Myrddin's line of reasoning aside from semantics. I don't think he constructed it originally the way he intended. (I disagree with it, but it's a reasonable contention to hold, I suppose.)

I don't like it when Cruice (or the 'Herks', for that matter) go on the offensive. I realize the temptation is strong when everyone is talking down to and about them. A safe rule for figuring my opinion when I'm not there to give it is that I am moderately defensive of Cruice when he's not trying to trash talk, and I want nothing to do with the situation when he is. ...and I don't even want to be involved in the situation with any of the others.

And in this case, situational logic must be applied and not what I like to call 'tireless' logic. Given all the situations, Myrddin's purposed comments on Cruice are very valid. The only 'logical' ways he can respond are distancing himself from his friends or continuing improperly to have his opinions of his obvious opponent to be discredited by his own ally.

Now that I'm done with the intelligent conversation, a few points for Cruice:

'How do we know that isn't you in the video?'

    1) I'm not black

    2) I'm not American

    3) That video is what is known as satire

Even if I was the guy in the video, that wouldn't say anything about my personality, any more than Viggo Mortensen's role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy suggests he is an 87 year old man and heir to the throne of Gondor. The guy is what is called an ACTOR.

I think you're confounding the example by bringing the baggage of racial identity into it. It has no relevance to the issue at hand and isn't an integral part of my example.

The point of the example was:

    Person A B and D are X

Person A and B are attacking person D for being X

Person C is joining person A and B in attacking D

Now person A and B are scared/in denial/hate what they are, or are too stupid to realise they are also X.

Person C is scared/in denial/hates the fact that they are friends with person A and B who are X, or is too stupid to realise that A and B are X.

Haha, Myrddin don't cry your eyes out to me when you just did the same thing I did to Gambrinus, to Norre.

Btw, I've never been on the top activity. Rarely even close. Gambrinus on the other hand is hidden and toping the charts right now, a good guess would say over 10d of age. Maybe even close to 12.

Since you made some not-so credible assumptions about me, how do we know that isn't you in the video that you posted on here? Makes me wonder how you found that so easily, when I'm sure most of us have never seen it before now.

  • Author

I don't think so. In your example, one might say that the two black KKK members are betraying their racial identity by joining a group whose primary purpose is to persecute them. By your logic, we ought then to also be able to say that the white KKK member with whom they associate is also betraying his racial identity by joining a group whose primary purpose is to persecute them. This is clearly inappropriate.

Each of your components and your conclusion may or may not be true, but the conclusion you derive from them does not follow.

  • Author
    Myrddin [legacy]
    At
    02 February 2010 21:44:51

I mean I it's not exactly lumping them. If you have 3 black KKK members, they've definitely got issues. But a white guy who is friends with these 3 guys and also a KKK has his shit mixed up too, and I'd suggest that a/b/c could be applied in both cases.

You've proposed that you have evidence that Rhakyrh and Norre are guilty of the same offense of which he accuses Gambrinus. Fair enough.

Conclusions b and c, however, appear to rely on Cruice being guilty of the same. You have not demonstrated this and, as far as I am aware, it's untrue. The only way you can make it work is if you claim that all the herks must work entirely as a collective. I doubt this is true.

Way to disprove whatever crackpot theories were circulating about you being the 'smart-herk'.

Here's a tip - when you/your friends have logged upwards of 10d/month aging (Rhakyrh certainly has done this and I'm almost sure Norre's typist has done it 90% of the time he's spent non-hardbanned, constantly reflecting on someone else's activity reflects:

    a) A state of denial and/or fear of your own/friend's addiction

    b) Extremely poor self worth knowing that you are guilty of the thing you're making out to be so bad.

    c) A state of complete and utter stupidity allowing you to actually genuinely not realise that you are no better than the person you are trying to attack.

c.ii) the old herk 'lol it's a game I'm just joking' clause, which is an instantiation of c).

Actually, many players stopped playing/lowered activity due to melkor's clown experiment. Clowns shouldn't have been unbanned, ever.

now return the ban on the herks again, the 'clown experiment' worked, people got more active, now its time to send the clowns home.

hellflame should look at the bright side of it: at least he won't have to pest someone to update his map according to the new grid.

I find it absurd that Norre would multiplay. Any look at his logs would imply otherwise. Fight the power Norre!!!
