    The street leads north and south, and is steeply inclined here.  To
the east and west are two small houses.  To the south you can see a large
golden hall atop the hill.  A stream of water flows swiftly down the
hill in a stone channel.
The sun shines down from directly overhead.
The sky is brilliantly clear.
The east door is bashed open.
    The only obvious exits are west, north, east and south.

    The street is steeply slanted upwards towards the south.  There is a
fast flowing stream of water which runs downhill in a stone channel by
the wayside.  To your east and west are two small shops.

    The main street of Edoras leads south from the gate.  It is a broad
path, which leads steadily up the great hill.  Spaced along the way
are several short flights of stairs.  Beside the road a swift 
stream of water flows in a stone channel.  There are many houses on
either side of the path as it winds its way up the hill.  To the east
is a small stone guard house, to the west a building with a sign on
its door.
