Not the first time i have seen Asgrim quit, if i remember correctly he quit on me and Squibb twice. We caught him in mordor while he was faded and he was to low on hp to fall down well so he quit at the Smith leaving all his eq on the ground. And i don't remember the second time but i think there was one. :)

as for going ld, shut the hell up, it is possible. if i think my connection to the mud has died, i'll close zmud and reopen it because reconnecting often helps. perhaps he did the same?
Actually it happens to me sometimes. Heavy lag bubbles (20 or so seconds) or connection to host lost instantly. Like after few seconds of lag.
I like the trigger though:). e,w and the attacker is trapped if not really evil.

If your connection sucks, you get lagged. Period. Lagged, not disconnected. Disconnection can happen after several minutes, but not after a second.
Connection problems my ass. You can _never_ go linkdead due to a connection problem. You're linkdead if your TCP connection gets properly shut down, this happens if the server receives a packet with the FIN flag on. If your connection fail, none such packet can go through. Even if your comp/modem/ethernet/router/anything is down, everything the T2T server can get is an ICMP packet saying 'host unreachable' (at the last hop) or 'network unreachable', but neither shut down the TCP.
A FIN packet can be sent if:
* the programs gets shut down (client gets closed or crashed), and your system is stable enough to tell the server about that
* some timeout happens (depends on your firewall, but it cannot be instant)
As clients nowaday are stable enough to not crash without a reason, I suspect that uhm... someone is a dirty lying coward?

Well, as your friend Nightfall says, it doesn't matter what you do to escape an attack (he bought examples of using inns and guildhalls) as long as you escape it.
That's his point of view though, I think going LD in an attack sucks, but maybe he had connection problems?
