Yeah, ainur can be cheap. Rauko's axe doesn't actually do damage, but it just automatically puts you down to -10 hp. Rauko asked my ER to spar with him, and I lost. Sauron did some nasty attack that killed me too. And as for not seeing Melkor hanging out at the Bree signpost, ainur hanging around the mortal areas is admittedly unusual, but I remember Rauko frequently hanging out in the bar in the ER mission camp.

Sure Necsi, that's if you stick to technichal issues.
But quite frankly, that doesn't make him any less of a jerk. :P

Better yet, why don't you write some code!

    Posting for 'someone':

'Ivon, go to this log - www.angelfire.com/rpg/angband/Melkor_Fight.txt
    and see for yourself.
It sure depends of the ainur, and if you're attacking them to be an asshole then don't expect to live very long.'

I have to agree with him,to dare to attack an ainu without warning him deserves a plain and simple death, I don't see any reasons to complain.

I've attacked ainu quite a few times actually, once i was in a party of Amruin and we wanted to drive melkor out of edoras for theme purposes... we just missed alot and he left due to being annoyed. I attacked melkor as an ER once and he killed me in one hit. Then i attacked Grim once when he immorted because his contract was still at the assassin even after he immorted :P but since we were friends he didn't kill me.

Going by this log, the guy's hp was set to 1. Which is not at all kosher, even if you got attacked, and especially not when you're some butterball newbie maia who has no standing and no empowerment to take such decisions.

You know guys, isn't it possible that Elcolonel just had a very powerful weapon in his hands, or perhaps had his 'stats' pumped way up, and his 'hit' did like 80 hp?

    Its happened to ME before

Atanamir says 'Hey man, I want to test this new weapon. Attack me'

And one hit from the damn thing does 250 hp damage.

    Gosh man, real sorry.

    Heh.

Of course we all seemed to have overlooked that this is a log of the character Garamor fighting Elcolonel, from a first person point of view but it's posted by Pheygon...

Jaren brought this old phrase out on another log's comment section:

'Don't mess with the bull, cause you'll get the horns'

Hevron attacked Melkor once, he warned Melkor he was gonna do and he got bandaged (there's a link to the log on the t2t website). You gonna attack a God for shits and grins, you get whatever that God wants to give you. Fucking moron.

and just to try and meet my 'fuck' usage quota...

So what used to happen when people used to attack melkor and he'd beat there ass down and then nuke em?!? is this really that different? I think Garamor is stupid for attacking and he got what he should have.

Hey - I never said he wasn't irresponsible for doing it. I'm just trying to look on the bright side since no one else will. :P Or, play devil's advocate and look at it from both sides.

You're beating a dead horse Theodrek.

If Elcolonel was mature and wasn't irresponcible, he'd have given out that warning of which you speak of.
If Garamor wouldn't be attacking any ainur, it won't actually mean that Elcolonel isn't irresponcible. Bandaging him while bleeding would have made the same affect, or a lecture from him. It would have also made Elcolonel come out actually looking like a person.

This is pretty much what it looks like. Elcolonel playing tough on a mortal, getting a free kill and for what reason? It scares me to think what kind of a bullying asinine OL or Power he would make. Hopefully, we'll never have to find out.

Erm...oh...if I'm not mistaken, ainur CAN warn people for attacking them. So maybe Garamor should count himself lucky that he only died, and didn't get a warning. :P Who knows when that warning can be his third, and his character gets deleted. (I'm not insinuating that he is a cheater, but I'm just saying. Some warnings are frivolous...)

*shrugs* Will Garamor attack another ainu? Ever since Cudgel killed me in Sheriffs GH, I haven't attacked an ainu. Except for Paazin and Silvayn (I killed him, too :P) when they were removing the Sheriff profession and came to taunt me. Silvayn set his HP at 10 because he had his defense at some 300 or something, so I just threw my hauberk at him twice and it killed him. *snicker*

What utter nonsense. I agree with Ivon completely; the statement in the help file I believe refers to 'attacking an ainur repeatedly'. Attacking someone once hardly counts as 'harassment'. Elcolonel is completely irresponsible, and it looks like immorting hasn't changed that.

Yes, they can make themselves unattackable. But, fire teaches the hand not to touch better then the parent does. :P Wouldn't you agree? Instead of seeing 'Attack failed.' when they try to attack you, they'll die. And they'll know better then to do it again.

That's funny, reading Theo's comment. The ainur can set themself nonattackable but instead of doing that they create a rule 'Don't attack an ainu'. Does anyone have a reasonable explanation to that?
    It seems ridiculous.

Yes, what he did -was- pretty crappy. But it got the point across - don't attack ainu. If Elcolonel set Garamor's HP to lower, then shame on him. Although there's also the chance that the log is edited. But if you attack ainu, you can and most likely will die. I found it out the hard way when I attacked Cudgel - he followed me everytime I wimpied until he killed me. :P Yes, what Elcolonel did was bad. Will Garamor attack ainur again? It's doubtful.

(Also, does anyone know if Garamor asked first? If he didn't, and he just decided to attack Elcolonel without asking, that could be understandable why Elcolonel decided to kill him.)

    Well, what is this.

The part with don't attack an ainu is there but still...

First - If ainu don't want to be attacked he can change his setting to nonattackable.
Second - What Elcolonel was doing at Bree signpost?
And third - imo it's really really rude what he did, it's understandable that players may attack ainu if they see them and if they can actually attack them. So Elcolonel allowed all that standing at Bree signpost attackable. Then he set the players hp -80and something. why? to show how mighty he is? that he can play with some commands the others can't? I find what he did completely irresponsible
