I've been a guild monkey and a solo runner, and I have found that it's a lot easier to play solo. When you're in a guild, you're always donating your EQ to the armoury, and when you log back on, you get the slim pickens. You give your dollahs to the guild, also to your guildmates who've been pwnd by a PKiller or an Ugly Orc... Unless of course, you're one of those newbies we were talking about, in which case you're getting a more experienced guildmate to rescue your gear from the aforementioned Ugly Orc...
If you're Guild, more power to you, 'cause it's a hard role.

I had friends, I played solo most of the time. People can be in guilds and still play solo...people can have friends and still play solo. It's a matter of gameplay, either you kiss ass and have people back you up or you sort things out yourself.
