    And all the comments amount to 90MB? ;)

    My god. I have to totally agree with Anatharn...I use 4.62 as well, so I can't 'save buffer'...I have to specifically log it, or just copy and paste (without color).

    How to log in color using Mud Master 2000 would be good as well

    Athin still wants to know how to log in colour when using Mushclient. :P

    I keep the logs compressed on the site too. All the logs posted so far amount to 19MB.

    Logs take about 1MB per hour, that's almost nothing considering the today disk sizes, so I just keep logging all the time. When I was playing from a lab, I used to weekly remove any logs that didn't have anything interesting -- but nowadays I keep them forever. Heck, all my logs since last summer would take just 270MB if I hadn't them compressed (they compress in like 1:15 ratio).

    Hmm.. interesting, but how much space does a log need that contains everything from say 4 hours of playing? Doesn't it grow extremely large considering that 4 mintes already make a textfile of 50 kb or something? (don't know if they do, that's just what I would guess)

    I log everything and just copy out the interesting bits if I want to post the log. Heres how to do it in zMud.

    #alias atconnect {#VAR LogFile {C:\zMud\Logs\%char\Raw\%time(mm-dd-yy).txt};#LOG @LogFile}

    As soon as your character connects to the mud it creates (or appends if the file already exists) a log file named %time(mm-dd-yy).txt (ex: 03-25-79.txt) at the location C:\zMud\Logs\%char\Raw\ (ex: C:\zMud\Logs\Leto\Raw\). All you have to do is make sure that such a folder exists to create the log in and you are set.

    about the anticipation thing...

    You can start a log with the #log <textfile> command. So if you are about to make a playerkill you could even have the log command in the same client alias that you use to attack your target. The playerkill would then automatically logged (starting at the moment where you attack) in the named textfile.. for example #log temp.txt would create a textfile with the name temp.txt and automatically log everything into this file. If the file already exists, the #log command appends to the file (I think) and doesn't delete it's contents.

    I only know that in the comments on a log, some threads ago, someone said that he had been at school (I think) where he uses zmud V 4.62 (which I am also using) and thus he wasn't able to log in color.

    It IS possible though to log in color with zmud version 4.62 if you click on the checkbox under

    -> general -> logging -> log ANSI color

    What you cannot do with zmud 4.62 is log something in color that has already happened. With newer zmud versions you can do this with the 'save buffer' option I think. Unfortunatelly I'm lacking the anticipation to know when to start a log (in color). Whenever I'm making logs, the stuff has already hapened so that I copy/paste it into a text file which then is uncolored.

    It surely makes a difference. The eye doesn't read monochromatic stuff nearly as well as colors. You say 'if we could we would'; well this is //exactly// why I think it would be nice with some guides to //tell// people how they can :-)

    Mine can't. I can't see the colors black, grey and semi-green. Oh, please. Color your logs!

    I think we need some courses on how to post in color. I realize it's not always possible, but lately more and more logs seem to be colorless :-(.
