The walls jut out from the cliff in pointed bastions, one above the other. They diminish as they rise, with sides of cunning masonry that look northeast and southeast. The turret is not visible from this angle but you know it is there, horn-like, stabbing into the troubled sky. Directly before you is the gate to the tower, guarded not by stone or iron bar, but the malignant will of the Watchers. They loom on either side of the opening, two massive statues with the heads of vultures. Part of the entrance's archway seems to have collapsed recently, the rubble having been moved to one side to form a narrow path into the dim courtyard beyond. There are cliffs to the northeast, east, and southeast. A thick blanket of smoke from Mt. Doom completely covers the sky. The only obvious exits are gate and southwest.
