'perfect timing'? :P I would guess he was in good shape (considering that it took 2 backstab massacres and a headbutt to kill him), so the timing could have been better ;) not that timing would matter when a level 16 jumps on a level 4. I'm wondering if the fines outnumbered the costs for retraining his stats/skills and I think they did.
Maybe he didn't hear them :) What awareness did you have at lvl4?
