Lotraz and Nils jump us at ASB in Mordor, and eager aliasing almost gets me killed; In the end, it was my lucky day though. Another lucky day... (quite old log)

Hehe.. yeah I actually considered coding one at some point.. right now it would be on Mac if anything (since I have a Mac now, and don't use my PC too much).. or maybe a text-mode *nix client (but not much change of a mapper there).

Well, based on that I consider myself a good coder, I think he is not so. Well maybe a good coder, but not a good project planner then. It might sound a little arrogant, but there are a lot of things in that program that indicates lack of a general overall design, consitency of ideas etc.

On top of that, there are plenty of stability issues also, yeah. And memory leaks, stack overflows etc. etc.

Hmm.. with a stable prompt and everything set correct, I don't really think it happens very often that you get position bugs.

Maps are neat, but it's pretty easy to get a bug in your position, then misalias. I would disagree that the author is a BAD coder, but zMud definitely has some stability issues.

It's a bit involved if you want it to work well. First, you need zMUD 6.26a at most, as the mapper has been fucked up (improved according to the programmer) in the versions following. Also, you need a number of settings to be correct and --- quite important --- you need a newline in your mud prompt, like e.g. prompt $HE>\n

Without that it won't work well. You also need to be in brief mode, and remember to turn off 'Room descriptions' so the mapper doesn't expect them.

Speaking of Nils, notice how he is in front of me when I am running to the well. Quite weird. Maybe he didn't hunt or party, but ran up there by himself?

zMUD is a bitch sometimes (the author is a rather poor coder I think, but leave that).. Muad and I worked on it for quite some time before we got maps to run smoothly.

I'm just saying that using zmud maps is a huge advantage when being hit by an arrow :p

Ehm.. if I hadn't used a map I wouldn't have survived? Or what are you saying? Well, I //was// using a map but if I //hadn't//, I would have had more aliases and such instead :-).
