It slopes down towards the southwest.  The corridor is pitch dark, so dark 
in fact you can't see your hand in front of your face without some sort of 
artificial illumination.  The heat is stifling in here,  the air is thick and 
hot making breathing difficult. You notice there is a lever on the wall to 
your left.
