Looking for a chance to put someone down at every opportunity, even when not warranted, is definitely mean-spirited. (definition 3) Doing this as often as Caber does, I think one could consider that a 'way of life' (definition 2)
Moreover, since his accusation was in fact, 100% wrong, (and please let's not pretend it was a question of any other kind than rhetorical) it means it was definitely 'inferior in quality'. (definition 3) I do believe a high quality accusation would turn out to be true.
