    The glowing which was visible from the stairway turns out to be coming
from four stones which are embedded in the walls of the room.  There is
a red stone, a green one, a gold one, and a black stone, one in each
of the four walls.  In the center of the room stands a pedestal with an
old looking book resting on top of it.  Maybe you can find out more
about the stones in this room from the book?
    The only obvious exit is east.
