    This is the heart of Shelob's domain. Vast walls of grey granite
tower above you coated with thick drapings of spiderwebs which
swing softly in response to unseen vibrations. Mounds of slowly
decaying weapons and armour lie half uncovered amidst the
disgusting dark layers of blood, flesh, and soil which have
gradually formed to make a squelching floor of sorts. A stench
of rot and death pervades the dust filled air, and looking up
you see strange shapes hanging from the ceiling, bundled in
Shelob's spinnings. A thick strand of web reaches down from the
shadows above you, to almost touch the floor.

    You stand at the foot of the straight stair of Cirith Ungol.  
The stone steps delve far into the mountains, much further than
you can see from this vantage point.  The darkness looming above
swallows them up, greedy thing that it is.  The carved stone appears
to be able to support your weight, yet a few cracks here and there
seem to suggest otherwise.
    The only obvious exits are up and west.
