Seems to me like he just fucked up. From what I remember the travelto from Lothlorien does not go 10e of Loth signpost which means he used an alias. Also, notice how when he arrives at Rhosgobel he isn't even in the room long enough for there to be a tick before leaving THUS I conclude he was using aliases and just fucked up.
As for Kozlodoev, he might have just been hunting while following in party which is why he lost them. Obviously he didn't trigger to attack.
