Thematically we should all be able to SEE who we are fighting and not have to be fast readers and typers to be good warriors/knights/assassins/rangers/wizards/thieves/archers/goblins/orcs/trolls/haradrim and we wouldn't be able to kill in Greyhavens and Rivendell without massive armies and we wouldn't be able to enter mordor unless we were 2 little hobbits or a little ugly beast that has a SUPER powerful ring and a blue glowy sword and not many people would be using pepper in fights to blind their enemy and not many people have ever heard of the staff of the eye and no one would be carrying a Lomar's PIMP drum, and a swim across one of these HUGE rivers like the Entwash in under 1 second would be completely impossible.

Lomar you can climb A TREE blinded, you have only to touch the branches you don't need to see them ;-) IMHO
