and made by the dwarves while the craft of ancient days still thrived.
A thick pool of rancid dark water sits nearby. You can still see the
remains of an ancient road leading into the debris and away towards the
west into the lake.

This is a fine road which climbs up the low cliff which is to your
east, curving north and south in switchbacks. The road then appears to
run due east to its destination. You can almost see beyond the cliff, but
it looks as if it were dark water beyond. Far past the dark water a high
cliff signals the presence of the West-gate of Khazad-dum. Aside from
that, and some sparse vegetation, there is no sign of life whatsoever.
