    The gate rises above you, making you feel small and insignificant.
Large timbers make up the majority of the gate's bulk,  with joints
braced with iron bands.  Beyond the gates you can see the peaks of the
city walls jutting up from each level.  Dancing golden flames shimmer,
the cold black iron mixing with its dark hues.  You feel entranced,
the shades of orange and red rising and falling rhythmically.  You
stare at the majestic umber hues and find yourself forgetting about the
pain and torment they have brought this fallen city.  The doors of
the gate currently hang ajar, but from the worry on the faces of guards
and citizens you get the feeling they may be closed soon.
The sky is covered by a dark black cloud from horizon to horizon.
    The only obvious exits are gate, northeast and southwest.
